Josh from WA Engraving now specializes in sandblasting glass and his work is fantastic!
Sandblasting glass offers very nice features that can't be achieved with a laser, such as a much larger decoration area and a clearer image. The reason behind this is because when the glass is sandblasted millions of tiny grains are hitting the smooth surface leaving a very fine, pitted surface where the grains have hit it. When glass is laser engraved, it's not pitting causing the frosted look, it's microscopic fractures in the glass caused by the heat of the laser. This heat of the laser engraving cause the glass to crack if too much power is applied and too little heat means the glass won't get hot enough to engrave (microscopically fracture).
So for the best results, Josh can sandblast your glass item for you!
